A room full of samples
We tested clothing from vendor after vendor — enough to fill a room — then narrowed it to a handful worth touching twice.

Southampton, New York
Three locals. One lowercase line. 715 days between the first hoodie and the day you could finally buy one.

Golden hour — Sag Harbor pier
Chapter 01
AJ was a struggling real estate agent, born and raised in Southampton, getting beat out by the top brokers in a cutthroat local market. Patience, relationships, and a tight budget. Months of shadowing producers without getting in the way. Then the mindset flipped: it's now or never — I choose my life, and the path gets decided now.

Chapter 02
Sitting back down after chasing another client, AJ pulled off a sweat-stained hat, dropped it on the desk, and stared at it. Four simple words from a brand that had blown up using that exact layout. Maybe I'm overthinking this. Let's make this simple.

Chapter 03
Pat said let's talk tomorrow, then showed up with his cousin Natalie. We threw the hat on the table and asked if they recognized the format. They did. Out here, people are obsessed with where you're from — especially the Hamptons. We looked at each other and knew we had something hot.

Chapter 04
It took two days to land on the lowercase line: i only love you in... tailored for our first destination drop, the hamptons. Others romanticize it. For us it's all we know — everyone we've ever loved and everything we've ever learned is rooted right here in Southampton.

Chapter 05
Before mass producing anything, we made a few prototypes for ourselves. Clean, minimalist, timeless — lowercase sans-serif, almost like a diary entry. Then we wore them around town. Stopped, complimented, asked where we got them. Multiple times a day, every single time. We knew we had a winner.

The part that took a year

01
We tested clothing from vendor after vendor — enough to fill a room — then narrowed it to a handful worth touching twice.

02
Makeup, softness, breathability, durability. If it didn't feel right on a 40° morning and an 85° afternoon, it was out.

03
Every single test piece went through the washer and dryer on hot to check for shrinkage. Most of them didn't survive it.

04
We tested embellishers until one delivered a finish worth putting a hometown on. Then came hats, the site, the LLC, the legal work.
i only love you inthe hamptons.
